About Us

The word “counterculture” means “a set of attitudes opposed to or at variance with the prevailing social norm.” This company does exactly that when taking care of our weddings and events.

With over six years of experience in wedding and event planning, we ensure that your special day will be handled with detail, care, and passion.

We are a wedding planning and coordinating company with one aim: That our clients feel that one of the most important days of their lives was executed in the way they always dreamed of.

We are so excited you’re here. Let’s get to planning!

Meet Your Coordinator, Kylie!

Hi! I am Kylie Scudder, and I am here to make the biggest day of your life smoother and easier for you. But first, you may want to know a little bit about me!
I am based out of Temecula, CA. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and my wedding career began while I was in college. On my Summer and Winter breaks from school, I had a job at a nearby wedding venue. I began by being a wedding & banquet server. I immediately fell in love with the industry. While some may have dreaded the hard work and the late nights, I was genuinely excited to go to work every single day.
This helped me to learn the ins and outs of weddings, all the way from setting out the tables and chairs, to making the coffee, to cutting the cake and pouring the champagne. I admired the coordinators as I watched them work. Eventually, I worked my way up to being a banquet captain. Then, when COVID-19 arose, my Summer and Winter job with this wedding company came to an end.
After COVID settled down, I worked at a golf course. This golf course also held weddings, and I would watch the weddings, help whenever i could, and miss the times when I worked at a wedding venue. I then knew I needed to pursue it again.
I applied for a corporate wedding company, where I landed a position at their corporate office, working a desk job. Although I did not necessarily want a desk job, this job allowed me to learn more of the administrative side of a wedding company.
Finally, I transferred from the corporate office to a venue located in Temecula, CA, as a beginner wedding coordinator. This training position helped me to truly learn how to run a wedding.
After more wedding & banquet training, coordinating training, learning wedding etiquette, and so much more, I was, at last, a full-time wedding coordinator.
Ever since I began wedding coordination, I can say i truly love everything about the industry. I get excited every single day that I coordinate. I was promoted and transferred once more to a wedding venue in San Clemente, CA. This promotion allowed me to take more of a lead role, handle contracts, and help to train others.
The decision to leave my corporate wedding coordinator job and begin my own wedding company occurred for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest reason would be that I want to control the wedding experience that I give my clients. I am very thankful for the jobs I had that gave me my knowledge, and I can apply that to the weddings I coordinate now.
I want CounterCulture Weddings & Events to be personal, and I want my clients to know that their wedding is handled with the utmost care. I want the focus to be on love, rather than company sales. I want to recognize diversity and inclusivity. After six years of wedding experience, and coordinating & planning hundreds of weddings, I still get emotional every single time I send a couple down the aisle, because each and every love story is beautiful.
I can’t wait to work with you, and thanks for getting to know me!
